February 7-13 2027
with Gulsah Diker & Michelle Critch-Gilfillan

The Bali Remedy is a seven-day wellness retreat designed to give you space to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and experience the restorative magic of the island.
Think slow mornings, nourishing meals, intentional movement, healing practices, sacred Balinese rituals, jungle views, and the kind of peace you can actually feel.
Our home for the week is Blue Karma Dijiwa Ubud, an intimate hillside sanctuary surrounded by rice paddies and lush rainforest ravines. Here, contemporary comfort meets the beauty and spirit of Bali, creating the perfect setting to rest deeply, move intentionally, and simply be.
Come as you are. Leave feeling lighter.

Each day is thoughtfully designed around movement, mindfulness and rest, with plenty of space to experience Bali at your own pace.
Twice-Daily Practices
Yoga, meditation, breathwork and somatic practices designed to help you move, breathe and reconnect. On excursion days, we’ll gather for one daily practice.
Sound Healing
A guided sound healing experience created to invite deep relaxation and stillness.
Opening & Closing Ceremonies
Intentional gatherings to ground into the week together and close our experience with reflection and connection.

Experience one of Bali's most sacred water temples and take part in the centuries-old tradition of melukat, a Balinese purification ritual using holy spring water.
Dating to the 10th century, Tirta Empul is built around a natural sacred spring whose waters flow into purification pools used by Balinese Hindus for ritual cleansing. With the guidance of a local Balinese guide, we’ll experience this tradition respectfully and intentionally — an opportunity to release, reset and begin again.

Journey into one of Bali's most extraordinary ancient sacred sites.
Hidden within the lush Pakerisan River valley, Gunung Kawi is an 11th-century temple complex known for its monumental shrines carved directly into the rock cliffs. Reached by descending through tropical greenery and terraced rice fields, the site feels worlds away from modern life.
We’ll explore its ancient shrines, meditation spaces and surrounding landscape while learning about the history and spiritual traditions that have shaped Bali for centuries.

Spa Treatments: Because sometimes the remedy is simply slowing down.
Your retreat includes two 60-minute spa treatments of your choice, with options including:
Take time to unwind, reset and let yourself be taken care of.

Gather each morning and evening at Botanist, Blue Karma’s serene restaurant surrounded by lush greenery and tranquil rice-field views. Meals are fresh, colorful, and thoughtfully prepared using locally and sustainably sourced ingredients, with an emphasis on food that feels as good as it tastes.
Expect vibrant bowls, tropical fruits, nourishing proteins, vegan and vegetarian specialties, gluten-free options, and superfoods like matcha and moringa. Dietary needs can be accommodated, including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and high-protein preferences.
Breakfast and dinner are included daily. On excursion days, we’ll enjoy lunch together at some of our favorite local spots, giving you another taste of Bali beyond the retreat. These lunches are not included in the retreat price. On free days, lunch is yours to explore Ubud’s incredible café and restaurant scene or simply follow wherever the day takes you.

The Bali Remedy goes beyond the yoga mat. Throughout the week, you'll have opportunities to experience traditions that remain part of everyday life on the island.
Sacred Balinese Welcome Blessing
Begin the retreat with a traditional Balinese blessing ceremony, setting an intention for the week ahead.
Traditional Boreh Workshop
Learn to prepare boreh, a traditional Balinese herbal body treatment made with warming roots and spices and used for generations as part of local wellness traditions.
Traditional Jamu Workshop
Discover the ritual of jamu and learn to prepare and taste Indonesia's traditional turmeric-based herbal drink.

From the moment you arrive in Bali, we've taken care of the details so you can focus on enjoying the experience.

I can't recommend Michelle highly enough. From the moment I booked the retreat, every aspect of the experience was thoughtfully planned and exceptionally well organized. Traveling internationally can feel overwhelming, but Michelle provided clear, detailed information every step of the way, making the entire process feel seamless and stress-free.
What stood out most was the care and intention behind every recommendation she made. Whether it was travel logistics, accommodations, activities, or local suggestions, each one was carefully considered and genuinely enhanced my experience in Bali. It was obvious that nothing was left to chance. Michelle had thoughtfully curated an experience that allowed us to relax, be present, and fully enjoy the journey.
Her professionalism, organization, and attention to detail gave me complete confidence throughout the trip. Because everything was so well prepared, I was able to focus on what I had come for: reconnecting with myself, getting movement with yoga, enjoying the beauty of Bali, and embracing the overall retreat experience.
If you're considering one of Michelle's retreats, I wholeheartedly recommend it. Her dedication, thoughtful planning, and genuine care for every participant make for an unforgettable experience.
I first met Michelle in Bali through a mutual friend, and since then I’ve had the joy of knowing her both as a friend and as a teacher.
The first class I took with her was actually online, through a YouTube video she shared with me, and even through the screen I felt deeply connected to the energy of her practice. Later, when Michelle returned to New York, my friends and I followed her classes at Fira Yoga with so much love and dedication.
What makes Michelle such a special teacher is her sweetness, her deep knowledge of movement and transitions, and the beautiful energy she brings into every class. Her spirit helps you move through the practice with presence, strength, and ease.
Michelle is truly one of the most gifted teachers I know, and I feel so happy to witness all the dreams she has in her heart coming to life.
Michelle mindfully organized and gracefully led an amazing week in Bali. It was peaceful andrelaxing, energizing and fulfilling, set amidst the jungle with beautiful facilities and activities to experience.
The classes were challenging and
inspiring and planned to follow the flow of the
week. The community they brought together was kind and easy-going and generous.
I left with more space and peace than when I came. I cannot wait to go on another retreat both solo and with friends.
Gülşah is a truly inspirational yoga teacher. She has a calm and supportive presence and provides clear guidance as she leads the class through both basic and challenging poses. Her personal passion for yoga shines through as well as her genuine care for those of us who get to be in her class.
Gülşah has a natural compassion that radiates throughout her classes. Being in her class feels like being in her care. She cultivates a safe and soft space that fosters reassurance and embraces the present. While Gulsah is a guiding light, she is simultaneously alongside you every step of the way. Her attentiveness to each student is clear through her hands-on adjustments, which are gentle, insightful, and effective. When you go to a class guided by Gulsah, you are giving yourself a gift.
I have started practicing with Gulsah in the midst of a pandemic in 2020. Her yoga classes and wellness coaching sessions have not only improved my physical health, but also my mental and spiritual well-being. Her teachings on mindfulness and the mind-body connection have brought me a greater sense of calm and clarity, while her compassionate approach to nutrition and lifestyle has led to sustainable changes in my overall health. Her passion for helping others and extensive knowledge makes you feel like you are in good hands.
